OTHER DEVELOPMENT OPPORTUNITIES IN OUR REGION
Pellissippi Place is located in one of the nation’s top regions for energy research and development and commercialization of new technologies. A number of area parks have been founded to capitalize on the region’s scientific and technological strengths.
, beautifully situated on a bend of the Tennessee River near downtown Knoxville, will focus on renewable energy, supercomputing, materials science, biomedical science, and climate and environmental challenges. It will house the University of Tennessee-ORNL Joint Institute for Advanced Materials, which conducts interdisciplinary initiatives in energy, computation, neutron and materials science, climate and environmental science, and biomedical science.
The Cherokee Farm campus will also be home to the Tennessee Solar Institute, part of the $62.5 million Volunteer State Solar Initiative proposed by Gov. Phil Bredesen to advance job creation, education, research, and renewable power production in Tennessee.
The Oak Ridge Science and Technology Park
is located at Oak Ridge National Laboratory and is the nation’s first privately developed R&D park within the campus of a national laboratory. Among the first businesses to locate at the 40-acre facility are Pro2Serve
’s National Security Engineering Center and the Halcyon Commercialization Center, which houses nanotechnology company C3 International
The park was founded to allow private companies to work side by side with ORNL researchers and take advantage of the lab’s world-class physical assets. The Park will eventually support 500,000 square feet of offices and laboratories in a campus environment.
The Stock Creek Development Centre
is a Blount County development with various properties available. It features rail access, full utilities with all sites, and is located in close proximity to downtown Knoxville, McGhee Tyson Airport, and Interstate 40.
